Many brick-and-mortar retailers are finding it harder and harder to keep their physical doors open. The rise of online shopping has led to decreased sales at these in-person outlets. Retail as a whole is shifting towards technology, so physical stores need to as well. By integrating technology in traditional retail stores, brands are able to engage with their customers in a new way. Kiosks and touchscreens can be added in places of traditional sales associates to save labor costs. These kiosks are able to provide customers with personalized in-store recommendations, similar to how a salesperson would. AI can also be used to assist with cashier-less checkouts and customer tracking. Stores offering a blended setup of physical goods and digital technology bring something new and exciting to the table. Non-traditional setups give people a reason to physically come to the store as opposed to just browsing items online.
